Amazon Prime Day 2017

While, as a writer, I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with Amazon, it is as ubiquitous and impossible to avoid as Wal-Mart, especially for someone like me, who lives in a rural location with little other ways to access certain products. And as a person with limited income, well, the deals are occasionally impossible to ignore.

I figure if you’re here, you’re either a writer, a geek, or a crafter, as those are the things I write about the most. So here’s the Prime Day Deals that seemed most interesting to me:

Writers:

[amazon_link asins=’B015XIKE2W’ template=’ProductAd’ store=’meadhbh-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’7550dad0-6641-11e7-a4ea-af3f7c40eac9′]  As economy fountain pens go, the Pilot Metro’s a good one, works well with a converter and bottled ink, and is cheap enough that you don’t have to worry about losing it. They’re on sale today for ~$10. For about the same price range, you can also get packs of Pilot Varsity disposable fountain pens in black or color.

[amazon_link asins=’B01F4ZG68A’ template=’ProductAd’ store=’meadhbh-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’8068ce55-6648-11e7-b4fa-f3c3b614d363′] There’s also several great deals on computers, especially if you’re not looking for anything high-end (it helps to avoid distractions *cough – games – cough* if your writing laptop can’t run them).

Crafters:

There are tons of deals on markers, colored pencils, and brush pens, coming and going as the day progresses (and they’re going fast, the waitlist for my favorite colored pencils is already full)

Perhaps the best high value deals for crafters today are for the Cricut Explore and the Brother Sewing Machine.

[amazon_link asins=’B01GSOMVRG’ template=’ProductAd’ store=’meadhbh-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’3f89ee40-6645-11e7-b3f0-fdbf968931f8′] I have a vinyl cutter of my own, and it’s one of the most useful crafting items I didn’t know I needed but that became quickly necessary. I use it for stencils, I use it to make decorations, I use it constantly and I never thought I would. This is a great deal on the latest offering from Cricut, which can be controlled from a phone or tablet as well as a computer (an upgrade on the one I have). Definitely worth the price.

[amazon_link asins=’B008G1DJ9Y’ template=’ProductAd’ store=’meadhbh-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’5a85bcf2-6645-11e7-9cb4-c398ebb6cc7d’] I have always had Singer sewing machines until my latest, which is a Brother, and I have been impressed with it so far.  The one they have up for Prime Day today is a digital machine and a couple of steps up from my own, though it’s listed at about the same price I paid for mine. If it works half as well as the simpler machine I bought last Christmas, it’s a great deal.

Gamers:

Gamers are probably getting the best deals today, as both the PS4Slim and the Xbox One S are on sale cheap and with good addons.

[amazon_link asins=’B01LBH99UC’ template=’ProductAd’ store=’meadhbh-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’bd1c4601-6646-11e7-a5e5-21502059837e’] Not only does this come with the bundled game of your choice, there’s a digital code for The Last of Us Remastered and a handful of digital comics through Comixology. A nice little package.

[amazon_link asins=’B01LI1ZUW2′ template=’ProductAd’ store=’meadhbh-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’27fb483b-6647-11e7-bffe-c51ad56b46a2′] The XBox One S is competing too, in several different bundle options, with 3 games or with the play-and-charge kit.

Of course, you have to be a Prime Member in order to access any of the above deals, so if you haven’t done so yet, you can subscribe to Prime too. And remember to shop through Smile.Amazon.Com if you can to support your favorite charity on eligible purchases. I recommend TransLifeline!
